About Me

Hello! I’m Fumi
Registered Psychotherapist
My role as a therapist varies at different stages in our work together. I might start off being a guide who provides psycho-education and new perspectives, to being a companion who is offering support as you take initiatives to approach life differently, and then a cheerleader who is cheering you on as you fully embark on that journey of change. This is not a linear process because depending on the work we do together, I could move between roles.
Outside of therapy, I love to read and spend quality time alone or with loved ones. While I cannot hold a tune or play an instrument, I am a fan of music with my favourite being music produced by string instruments. I have recently uncovered a passion for exploring historical sites. There is something fascinating about traces left behind by people who lived years ago and establishing a connection from standing in the same spot they once stood.
My Experience
Since the onset of my practice in 2019, I have completed various professional trainings that further inform my practice. Outside of private practice, I worked in a community organization in Toronto providing counselling services to individuals experiencing abuse in relationships.
Prior to practicing as a psychotherapist, I worked in various frontline roles in the mental health field starting 2015, with the bulk my work focused on individuals living with mental health concerns and substance abuse concurrently.
